Our Story
Hi everyone,
I’m Rob, and this is my family. We’re proud to call Winnipeg, Manitoba, home. I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new owner of OK John Metal Detectors. My lifelong passion for metal detecting and history inspired me to take this incredible step and continue the legacy of OK John.
Before taking on this role, I worked as a graphic designer and started The Windy Digger Merchandising Company, specializing in apparel and custom keypad skins for metal detectors. Owning OK John felt like a natural evolution of my journey, combining my love for design, community, and the thrill of discovery.
OK John has a rich history, originally founded by John Wisniewski—better known as “OK John”—who led the business from 1976 to 2018. Randy John Gerylo continued the tradition until 2022, and I was honored to take the reins in 2023.
Since then, it’s been an exciting adventure. I’m working hard to bring OK John into the modern era, updating the website, expanding our social media presence, and enhancing the store to better serve the metal detecting community.
My mission is to inspire and grow the hobby of metal detecting not just here in Manitoba, but across Canada. I want others to feel the same joy and passion I’ve experienced from this amazing hobby.
